Sinarberitajambi.id – groups in Jambi City was prevented before it could take place after one of the groups failed to appear at the agreed meeting point. However, three students who allegedly intended to take part in the fight were arrested by police while carrying sharp weapons.
The students were apprehended by officers from the Jelutung Police Sector after they were suspected of arranging a meeting with another youth group near the Tugu Pers monument in Simpang Pulai, Jambi City.
Jelutung Police Chief AKP Choiril Umam said the three teenagers were members of a group known as KKS (Kita-Kita Saja). The group had allegedly agreed to meet a rival group called Puncak Stres for a planned street fight.
“The KKS group had arranged to meet the Puncak Stres group for a fight at Tugu Pers. However, when they arrived at the location, the opposing group never showed up,
” AKP Choiril Umam told reporters on Monday (August 3, 2026).
After waiting for some time without seeing their rivals, the three teenagers left the area. Police officers later intercepted and detained them.
During the operation, officers seized a motorcycle carrying the three students, identified only by the initials F, E, and A. Police also recovered several sharp weapons, including an egrek, a long-handled harvesting blade commonly used in agriculture.
“We secured one motorcycle carrying the three students. We also confiscated sharp weapons, including an egrek,” Choiril said.
Police confirmed that all three suspects are students at a public senior high school in Muaro Jambi Regency.
As part of the follow-up process, police summoned the students’ parents and will coordinate with the school to provide guidance and supervision. Authorities hope the intervention will prevent the teenagers from becoming involved in similar violent incidents in the future.
Police also urged parents, schools, and the wider community to strengthen supervision of teenagers and encourage them to engage in positive activities, emphasizing that preventing youth violence requires the involvement of everyone.( Helmi)
